Beaded Necklaces
Designs by Xan are back and better than ever. My California artisan
(who now lives in Nevada) had tremendous success last holiday season with her
elegant beaded necklace & earring sets. She's generously allowed us to
sell some of them for her, and I currently have several of them on eBay. I
chose eBay for this venue instead of my online store because I felt eBay would
allow a broader customer base. However, if you prefer to NOT buy through
eBay, or if you don't have an eBay account, and you would like to buy one of
these sets at the Buy It Now price (usually about $25-35), please let me know,
and I will cancel the auction and sell it directly to you.
You can see current listings here:
These listings end in two days. I may be listing a few more after
that, depending on the market.
Moonstone Round Back in Stock!
I've acquired a nice lot of Rainbow Moonstone 5-6mm beads. You may
choose from spotted Moonstone, White Moonstone, or a mix.
Blue Chinese Topaz Back in
Stock!
I finally located this strange stone again. It's not Topaz; I think
it's Quartz dyed in various blue and blue-green colors. Not as predictable
as regular Blue Quartz, this one is a mixed bag of opaque & transparent,
blue and blue-greens. Not the best thing to make jewelry from unless you
want a random look, but a really cool stone nonetheless.

found at the bottom of their respective pages. (If something intrigues you
and you can't find it, let me know and I will direct you to the appropriate
page.)

Stone Fun Facts
Bloodstone
** Bloodstone is a dark green Jasper with spots of reddish iron
oxide. (Though some smaller stones do not have red spots.)
** It is also called Heliotrope. In ancient times, this stone when
polished was said to reflect the sun.
** Bloodstone is thought to enhance courage and promote understanding of
the benefits of hard-earned victories, and therefore it is known as "Stone of
the Warrior." It frees the wearer's energy to explore the unknown and take
chances, and it is a good stone for those who are self-employed.
** This is a very porous stone, and will reject its polish if placed in
water.
** In ancient times, Bloodstones were thought to slow bleeding. They
were used to assist in labor and delivery, and to purify toxic blood.
** Bloodstone is a claming stone, removing distractions that might cause a
person to walk into dangerous situations.
** The blend of red and green, which are opposites on the color wheel, are
thought to allow Bloodstone to help integrate and blend opposites. This
makes it a good stone to give to lovers who are very different from each
other.
** Legend has it that Bloodstone was formed when drops of Christ's blood
fell on green Jasper at the foot of the cross. Thus, it is a highly
revered stone among certain Christian groups. Medieval Christians often
used Bloodstone to carve scenes of the crucifixion and martyrs, which helped it
gain the name "The Martyr's Stone."
** Bloodstone is a birthstone for March.

News and Stuff
Trouble With AOL Users
For the last three or four weeks, I have had a really hard time
sending this newsletter to AOL users. The messages always come back as
undeliverable. I don't know if perhaps AOL recently implemented a new spam
policy or something else that might be causing my messages to be rejected.
I always try re-sending the newsletter several times, and sometimes it actually
goes though, while other addresses are completely rejected. If any AOL
user out there manages to get this message, please check your spam filters to
see if there is a reason some messages are being rejected.
How's This for a Marketing Idea?
When listing a bamboo rainstick on eBay, I was bored with not having gotten
many sales and looking for some way to spice up my listings. On a whim my
husband suggested I offer to hand-deliver the rainstick to the winning bidder
for the cost of a plane ticket. The idea amused me, so I went ahead and
offered that as a shipping method (along with the much more reasonable $4.00
Priority Mail, of course!). Well, this little marketing ploy worked, as I
have had 50 people look at the listing so far, and it currently has one
bid. You can see it here:
Maybe I'll try that with beads next!
Fortnightly Sale
All December Birthstones Half
Price
Happy December! This week, I am cutting the prices of ALL December
birthstones in half--not just Turquoise. In doing research on different
stones, I always make a note of those that represent my birth month, so I've
come up with more than the usual Turquoise. This sale also applies to
Tanzanite, Blue Topaz, Lapis, and Onyx. ALL items with these stones will
be on sale, and that includes beads, pendants, bracelets, gem bottles, and other
things.
Or see a larger selection on Ephemerala Online:
Half Price December Birthstones Offer is good through December 12,
2004.
Penny Sale
Every two weeks, I hide a new special offer somewhere on my online
site. This listing will offer a certain product for ONE CENT, with any
purchase of $10.00 or more. The item and its location will change every
two weeks, so be sure to look often. Simply go to my online store site:
and browse until you find the hidden listing. Add it to your cart,
along with the rest of your $10+ order, and it will be included for just a
penny. Happy Hunting!
(Recent keen-eyed customers got a bag of PEARL BEADS for a penny.
What will you be able to get this week?)
Insider's Special
Cash Back on Pendants Purchases
People loved last week's Cash Back sale so much, I decided I'd offer it for
the other main element of my business, Stone Pendants. This week, for each
Stone Pendant you buy, I will return 50 cents back to you. Due to the
large number of pendants, I cannot automatically change all
prices to reflect this sale, but here's how it will work. Go to my eBay
store or my online store and buy any number of Carved Stone Pendants you
wish. When you pay, drop me a short line to let me know of your Insider's
status. I will then REFUND your PayPal payment to the tune of 50
cents for each pendant purchased. (Or, if you pay by check or money order,
I will send your refund back with your package.) This means if you buy 20
pendants, I will refund $10.00. If you buy 40 pendants, I will refund
$20.00. What if you decide to go whole hog and buy 100 pendants? You
will get a refund of a whoppin' $50.00 back. There is NO LIMIT to the
number of pendants you may buy. NOTE: This sale applies to INDIVIDUAL
pendants only.
Cash Back on Pendants Offer is good through December 12,
2004.
