Aventurine (Revisited)

** Aventurine is a form
of Quartz. It features tiny crystals, mainly mica, to give it a sparkling
sheen.
** Different minerals
determine the color of the stone. Aventurine comes in several colors, including
green, red-orange, blue, and gray. Green is the most highly prized.
**
Aventurine is often color-enhanced to make its natural colors brighter.
**
Aventurine got its name from the creation of a synthetic stone that was created
to imitate it. This stone, which we call Goldstone today, was created
accidentally when some copper dust fell into a vat of liquid glass. The stone
was created "A venturi," which is Italian for "By chance." Later, the
name Aventurine was given to the NATURAL stone the featured these sparkles, and
the manufactured stone was given the name Goldstone.
** Aventurine can be
used as a birthstone for August.
** Aventurine can fade if exposed to
sunlight for long periods of time.

Local Festival in Two
Weeks
If anyone plans to be visiting the southern Utah (St. George) area on
September 2nd or 3rd, feel free to visit the Ephemerala booth at Hurricane's
Peach Days festival. This is a local festival that was originally meant to
honor the fruit harvest at this time of year. It eventually evolved into
the Washington County Fair, and expanded to include all of the nearby
towns. Recently, the residents of Hurricane wished to get back to the feel
of the old festival, so they renewed Peach Days. I will have a booth
there, focusing more on ready-to-wear jewelry (such as pendants, bracelets,
rings, etc.) rather than beads. Anyone stopping by my booth who mentions
that they are a newsletter subscriber automatically gets a free gift!

This coming weekend I plan to attend a concert wearing the
singer's band's logo in GARNET CHIPS on the back of my dress. I've been
sewing Garnets on this dress all day and am not even halfway finished, so I have
