New and Updated Faceted Pendants
Our recent housecleaning turned up some new faceted pendants, and as a special bonus we have taken a dollar off of all of the old prices, for the next week only.  Choose from Amethyst, Garnet, Peridot, Blue Topaz, Citrine, and Sapphire in a variety of gold and silver settings, at $4-6 each.

All Sorts of Unrelated Nonsense
Okay, this will take some explaining.
Many of our subscribers know that we home-school our children.  So it may be confusing to learn that our oldest son, Rio, (who turns nine years old on Thursday) is currently going to public school.  We feel that part of the entire home schooling experience includes a variety of interesting life experiences in different surroundings, and this year it seemed appropriate to send Rio to school to give him this particular experience.  He isn't really learning very much (except for cursive, which is something neither of us wanted to teach him anyway), but he is having a fairly good time, meeting new people, and learning a sort of discipline that was difficult to teach at home.  We likely will NOT have him go to school next year, but this year it is good to give him this outside experience, and it also frees me up to get serious about the education of our 5-year-old.
So Rio is in school and is experiencing everything that goes with that, including the yearly fundraising efforts.  I figured I could create a special sales page on Ephemerala just for Rio, to send to my newsletter subscribers, on the chance that a few of you may wish to support Rio's school.  (The money will go toward, among other things, field trips, and I have signed up to be chaperone at his field trips, so the more you buy, the neater places I'll get to go to!  Happy Suzanne makes happy newsletters and generous sale ideas!)
So I have made this page that explains everything and gives you links to several different types of sale items, as well as two independent online sites that have hundreds of products.  Anyone wishing to help in the fundraising efforts may go to this page and browse through the many items.  You may add any Rio Sale item to your regular Ephemerala order if you wish.  This special sale page can be found here:

Stone Fun Facts
Mookaite (Revisited)
WHY ALL THE "REVISITED" FACTS?
At this point, there are very few stones I have not yet featured in the weekly Stone Fun Facts.  Every week it gets harder to find new stones to profile.  When we are extra-busy, as we are lately, it is good to sort of relax and re-visit some old stones we have profiled in the past.  Don't worry, there will be more new ones soon!

Chances are, you have not bought any of these beads. Only a few adventurous buyers have been curious enough to check these out. They sort of get hidden among the better-known beads. So here's a little info about them:
** Mookaite is almost exclusively mined in Australia. It is found primarily on Mooka Station, a sheep ranch in Western Australia.
** Mookaite, also spelled Moukaite and Mookite, is the common name for the stone Windalia Radiolarite.
** Mookaite is a form of Jasper that has mainly red and yellow colors, and a few other secondary colors. The stone often shows very interesting swirled designs.
** In Australia, Mookaite was and still is considered a powerful healing stone. Its main purpose is to promote the acceptance of chance, and to encourage the desire for variety and new experiences. It promotes inner calm while simultaneously promoting the desire for adventure.
** Physically, it is believed to promote good health by stimulating the immune system.
** It is also often made into jewelry for children, believing that it helps to modify children's behavior.

News & Stuff
The Newsletter Becomes Fortnightly
For nearly three years, I have been writing and sending this newsletter out on a weekly basis.  I have a subscriber base of several hundred, and I could usually look forward to a few good sales every Monday morning when the newsletter arrived to its destinations.
Lately, as you probably have noticed, I am taking longer and longer getting each newsletter out.  Seems as though it gets ever-harder to produce it every Sunday, and more often than not, we skip a week anyway.  Now that my sales are fortnightly instead of weekly, it now makes more sense to send the newsletter out with the new sales rather than every week.
Also, I am not listing as many new products as I used to, and I am running out of gemstones to profile in the Stone Fun Facts!  So each newsletter seems to contain less and less actual content.  I've recently felt that I am just repeating the same information every week, and that the newsletter is getting boring.
So starting next Sunday, I am going to deliberately change the newsletter from weekly to fortnightly (every two weeks).  I am hoping that this small regular lag in issues will help each individual issue to be more interesting in news and content.  Look for your regular Sunday issue this week (with the new batch of sales), then the every-other-week schedule will officially start.

Fortnightly Sale
Inventory Clearance!
While sorting through our Peach Days stuff, we found a lot of items that are sort of forgotten on the website, pushed to the back of the shelves and people's minds, and not really doing us any good right now.  We decided to make these in a sale.  All of the random items in our sale have been reduced in price, from 50 cents to several dollars.  Most of these are in very limited supply, and we don't plan to re-stock them once they are gone, so get yours NOW, while you can!  All sorts of things are represented here--beads, jewelry, trinkets of all types.
Inventory Clearance Sale is good through September 25, 2005

Penny Sale
Every two weeks, I hide a new special offer somewhere on my online site.  This listing will offer a certain product for ONE CENT, with any purchase of $10.00 or more.  The item and its location will change every two weeks, so be sure to look often.  Simply got to my online store site:
and browse until you find the hidden listing.  Add it to your cart, along with the rest of your $10.00+ order, and it will be included for just a penny.  Happy Hunting!
(Recent keen-eyed customers got a MEDICINE STONE for a penny.  What will you be able to get this week?)

Insider's Special
Color Groups Chip Packs
This is a package consisting of six (6) bags of Chip Beads in specific color groups.  There are six different color groups to choose from, and each pack is $10.00.  These are great for people who want to color-coordinate their beading but don't necessarily want to go finding the stones on their own.  (Plus, the price is greatly reduced when you buy the pack!)  There is no limit to the number of packs you can buy.  All stones will be chosen by us, though if you have a favorite or two, please let us know and we will try to accommodate.
Color Chips Packs Offer is good through September 25, 2005
