New Items
New Marbles
As always, still looking to add to my ever-growing collection.  Here are the new and back-in-stock offerings this week.

NEW:
Serpentine
A solid black stone with interesting tan bandings.

Lepidolite
Only ONE available!  Lovely pale purple with mica sparkles.  If you are a collector, get it NOW.

Rose de France
The lightest Amethyst.  Only a few of these available.

BACK IN STOCK:
Green Jade

Lapis

Picasso Marble

Rhodochrosite

New Chip Beads
Orange Coral
Very festive Halloween pumpkin colored chips.  We don't really carry a lot of orange, so if you like this color, these are great for you.  Well-dyed, even color, and it won't bleed on your white shirt.

Blue-Gray Mother of Pearl
A soft pastel color, smooth and pretty.

Smooth Kyanite
We already carry rough Kyanite.  These are wonderfully polished, smooth, most are sort of wafer-shaped and round.  Great color that you unfortunately cannot see on the scanning.  For some reason Kyanite does not scan well.  Rich shimmering blues and grays; highly recommended.

Black Jade
What can I say?  It's Jade, and it's black.

Stone Fun Facts
Variscite
** Variscite is a rare stone with a bright green color.  It is often confused with Turquoise, but it is not related to Turquoise.
** The name "Variscite" comes from Variscia, which is the old Latin name for Vogtland, Germany, where the stone was first found.  Of personal interest to me, Variscite is occasionally found in Fairfield, Utah (very near Salt Lake City, where I used to live), and one of its alternative names is Utahlite.
** Variscite is an excellent calming stone.  Known as one of the true "worry stones," it eases fear, tension, anxiety, and stress.  It encourages truthfulness, courage, and hope.  It is a good stone to be used by anyone who works with the elderly or sick, as it promotes inner strength and the ability to deal well with the stress of caring for others.
** Physically, Variscite is thought to be good in disorders of the nervous system, blood flow, and male reproductive system.  It helps to aid concentration, and fights chronic fatigue.

News & Stuff
Guest Book Hilarity
When I first opened my online store, I added a guest book.  I soon took it off, for reasons I don't remember any more.  I later reinstated it, then removed it again.  (You can see this happening in the dates of the first couple of messages.)  Finally, earlier this year, I reinstated it and kept it up.
Since then, I have discovered a new type of spammer.  It seems that nearly every day, I get several Guest Book entries that are nothing more than advertisements, mainly for assorted drugs.  These are put there by people who get paid when you click on their sites.  I guess the point is to write the name of their particular drug so many times that my Guest Book will show up on search engines, and they will get clicks.
I usually delete these messages every few days.  But when I realized I was going to write about this in the newsletter, I decided to keep most of them up for you all to see.  In a few days, I will remove them all again, but if you happen to check out the page every few days, no doubt you will see some more.
There is another sort of amusement on the Guest Book page.  There are entries that make no sense.  I deleted most of them (one entry said nothing but, "Great!  I'm really surprised!" with no other reference), but I've kept a few on there for your amusement.  Some are cute (Emmy on October 8); others are strange (Slepec on September 1).  Check out the page, have a chuckle, and maybe leave a little note yourself!

Halloween Fun
Just to show you the human side of the whole Ephemerala operation, I've posted a few pictures of my kids at Halloween.  Rio (age 9) was Edward Scissorhands, and Ewan (age 5) was Chewbacca (though he looked like a teddy bear).  I made both costumes.  Ewan also designed a jack-o-lantern of his own, which I carved for him.  See this and more at:

Fortnightly Sale
There's Gold in Them Thar Hills!
You know, I sometimes think up these sales according to whatever happens to be going on in our lives at the moment.  This coming weekend, we are going to go on vacation to a place that has gold panning, so I figured I'd go ahead and make a sale on Gold!  You can choose from Chains (a dollar off) and Gold Leaf Bottles ($2.00 off).  No limit, have a ball!

Penny Sale
Every two weeks, I hide a new special offer somewhere on my online site.  This listing will offer a certain product for ONE CENT, with any purchase of $10.00 or more.  The item and its location will change every two weeks, so be sure to look often.  Simply got to my online store site:
and browse until you find the hidden listing.  Add it to your cart, along with the rest of your $10.00+ order, and it will be included for just a penny.  Happy Hunting!
(Recent keen-eyed customers got a GOLD OR SILVER BRACELET CHAIN for a penny.  What will you be able to get this week?)

Dollar Chip Bottles!
If you are like me, you love Gem Chip Bottles.  Each one is a tiny geology display.  I could line an entire shelf with them if I didn't already take up too much room with my marble collection!  This week, all our special subscribers are entitled to buy random Gem Chip Bottles for a dollar each.  The sizes and gems vary, and will be chosen by us at random.  If you are looking to build up your own collection, or are looking for inexpensive holiday gifts for cool kids and grown ups, this is a great opportunity.  We will try to vary the selection for variety when you buy more than one.  There is no limit.
