New Items
New Chip Beads
Plum Jade
This is a dark, rich plum-colored bead with an exotic feel.  An interesting color, not found among any of our other gems.

Russian Jade
This is the awesome gray-green color I always think Jade should look like.

Candy Jade
Ya like bright colors?  Try these out!  Choose from several candy-bright colors.  These stones are dyed in nice strong hues to make lively, cheerful jewelry.  Have some fun for summer!

Pink Howlite
I love dyed Howlite.  It makes good Lapis and Turquoise substitutes, but better, it can take all sorts of colors for a sturdy, bright stone that won't bleed or fade.  Our latest acquisition is a bright, dark salmon colored Howlite, with the distinctive gray marbling running through it.

Bloodstone
This is a frequently requested stone, and it is darn hard to find it in chip form.  I finally got hold of some, and am offering them now.  Fabulous dark green with tiny "blood" spots all over.

Peach Quartz
This is a mix of Quartz and Aventurine in light and dark peach colors.  A very warm, friendly color for you "earthy" types.

Purple Coral
WOW!  What a color!  We don't have any other stone quite this vivid.  These weirdly-shaped branch coral tips are dyed dark, rich violet.  For the "royal" in you!

Reconstructed Larimar
This and the Chrysoprase below are both made the same way.  Tiny leftover bits of the original stones are ground into powder and mixed with a clear resin to form a sturdy, colorful stone.  These have the color and healing properties of the original stones, but are much less expensive.

Reconstructed Chrysoprase
The same procedure as above yields a bright apple green stone.

New Value Packs
We always love to add to our Value Packs, for the people who like to buy in bulk and save some money.
Incense
150 sticks of assorted fragrances for just $15, plus a free incense stick holder.  A great way to sample a lot of our scents.

Fragrance Oils
Ten bottles of our fragrance oils, plus a free brass light ring oil burner, for just $30.  I love fragrance oils, and use my own ring burner almost every night.  Take a chance on our random selection and try the oils out for yourself!

Bindis
Ten tins of assorted Bindis, for the girl who loves to decorate her face and attract attention!  Use all ten tins for yourself, or sell them.  They can easily bring $3-4 at fairs, so you can double your investment or more.

Stone Fun Facts
Turitella
** Turitella (also known as Turritella with two Rs) is composed of fossils embedded in a limestone matrix. The fossils consist mainly of snails and crinoids.
** This stone is also sometimes known commercially as Fossil Agate, Fossil Stone, or Fossil Limestone.
** This is a very soft stone, prone to chipping and shattering, and should be treated with care.
** Turitella is rich in lore and metaphysical belief. Fossils traditionally are thought to extend the life of the wearer; thus Turitella is said to bring longevity. Fossils also have traditionally been used to strengthen bones and teeth.
** The stone is worn to help overcome fears and insecurities. It aids in easing domestic relations and group interaction. It is also thought to help soften a strong ego.
** The hard fossils in a soft stone are thought to help the wearer combine old and new; to make transitions easier.
** Turitella has a special significance for me. When I was in college, I became friends with a certain Earth Science professor. When he discovered that I was an artist, he asked me to illustrate a scientific paper for him. The task included taking fossils of a prehistoric animal called crinoid, which would die with their branch-like armlets tightly closed (much in the same way a spider tightly curls its legs after dying), and envision and illustrate the creature as it would have looked alive. The job took a good degree of paleontology knowledge, imagination, and artistic skill, and at that time, I was the only person in the entire St. Louis metro area to fit that requirement. Thus, my original job led to quite a few other jobs, often very lucrative (one commission paid $200 an hour), and my illustrations appeared in several different published papers and paleontology textbooks. For your enjoyment, I have scanned some of these early illustrations and placed them on a website for all of you to see by CLICKING HERE.

News & Stuff
Changes to Chips Page
Our Stone Chip Beads page has so many thumbnail pictures on it that it is sometimes hard to load on some computers.  I thought of putting the items in a list-form, without pictures, but I really do think the thumbnails are appropriate, so folks can get a glimpse of what they are buying before they click.
I am offering a slight compromise with a newly-designed Chips page.  Very soon, the chips made from gemstones, glass, organic materials, and nuggets will all have their own separate pages.  This will reduce the number of thumbnails on any individual page.  These changes should be ready by the next newsletter.

Back in Stock: Dark Fluorite Chips
These were a huge favorite when we had them.  Gorgeous dark blue Fluorite, fairly large chip beads.  We have TONS of them now, so buy with gusto!

BTW, we have another type of Fluorite chips--extra-dark Rainbow.  These are very large and chunky, and very strong in color.  We only have six bags available and don't know if we can get any more, so I didn't bother making a picture for them or making a big announcement about their arrival.  Bottom line, if you want a really, REALLY dark Fluorite, here they are.  Twenty-five big chips instead of our regular 50 small.
