COOL!  These are natural crystals of golden Pyrite, about an inch across.  Awesome display items.

Same stone as our larger eggs, but in a tidy mini size.  Only one available, and when it's gone, it's gone.  Dull rosy pink egg with visible crystals.  Not the most beautiful of stones, but your friends will be impressed that you have a real Ruby!

Stone Fun Facts
Ametrine
(Please see additional information about Amethyst and Citrine.)
** Ametrine is a combination of Amethyst and Citrine in one crystal.  It is created when iron in Quartz reaches two different states of oxidation within the crystalline structure.  The exact cause of this phenomenon is currently not understood.
** Almost all of the Ametrine on the world's market today comes from one mine--the Anahi Mine in Bolivia.  There are rumors that the mine has recently run out of the gem and its future availability is now uncertain, so Ametrine is projected to go up greatly in value and price in the next few years.
** Ametrine was first known in the 17th century, when a Spanish conquistador received Ametrine as a dowry upon marrying a princess from the Ayoroeos tribe of Bolivia named Anahi.  The conquistador brought the stone to Spain and gave it as a gift to the Queen of Spain, thus introducing it to Europe.
** The stone was virtually unseen until 1980, when it came on the market out of Bolivia.
** In addition to possessing the healing properties of both Amethyst and Citrine, crystal healers also use Ametrine to aid in removing toxins from the body, repairing DNA, and to help in the acceptance of physical change.  It is thought to be helpful in releasing tension, stimulating creativity, achieving mental stability, and helping the wearer to remain calm under pressure.
** The name Ametrine is obvious in its origin--it is a combination of Amethyst and Citrine.  Prior to 1980, when it wasn't well known, its few rare specimens were called Amethyst-Citrine Quartz, Golden Amethyst, or Trystine.
** Ametrine, being Quartz, is very strong and stable; however, the colors can fade in sunlight.

New Guest Book
We decided to give the Guest Book one more try.  I removed all the valuable posts from our original Guest Book (leaving the thousands of spam messages behind), and put them into a newly-created Guest Book.  We will see if we end up with the same spam problem.  You can check out the new book here:

Pencils?  Yes, Pencils.
Your new orders will have a cute little promotional freebie in them.  We just got a batch of small green pencils with our website name printed on them.  Be on the lookout for yours in your next order!

Fortnightly Sale
Guy Stuff!
With Father's Day right around the corner, it got me thinking about dads and men in general, and how things on our site that are appropriate for men are so overshadowed by beads and jewelry.  With this in mind, this fortnight's sale will consist of assorted non-girly stuff.  Choose from a bunch of different items, including Rain Sticks, Window Quartz, Geodes, Gem Trees, Magnetic Hematite Zingers, and Twig Pencils.  Get a little something for Dad or (more likely) yourself!
This Fortnight's Sale is good through June 25, 2006

Insider's Special
Quarter Cherry Quartz!
Last week, we went out to our cherry tree and picked 20 gallons of cherries off it, which we preserved by canning in syrup, freezing, and drying.  Today we got another final four gallons off the tree, which we will make into fruit leather.  We are in a serious cherry mood this week, so I'm offering bags of Cherry Quartz Chip Beads to my extra-special customers for just a quarter per bag!  Limit of ten bags per order.
This Fortnight's Insider's Sale is good through June 25, 2006
