Bone Perfume Bottles
These are little bottles made from permeable bone, so when you
put your perfume or oil inside, the scent slowly makes its way through the layer
of bone and into the room. Pretty cool little bauble, but we have VERY
limited quantities, so if you're planning on getting one, best to get it right
away. Three types are available; you can see them all on the Purses &
Boxes page:
Mood Rings
Did you have one of these in the 70s? My sister did; it
fascinated me. I'm wearing on right now; it's purple--that means I'm
hyper. Woohoo, we have Mood Rings! Or maybe I'm just really
warm. Mood Rings are made from these little temperature-sensitive liquid
crystals. When they are warm, they turn a certain way to reflect the blues
and purples in the crystals. When they are cool, they turn a different
way, reflecting the browns and blacks. The crystals are normally
calibrated at an average human external temperature, so when they are showing as
green, it means you're average. Didn't you really need to know all
that? Well, I had to tell you anyway, because according to my ring, I am
hyper. (Woohoo!) Anyway, you MUST buy one of these rings. They
are simple and elegant thin bands (not like my sister's huge chunky ring!), and
available in many sizes. (My only regret is that we have none of the
really small sizes, because these would make such great gifts for
children!) Take a look, and try to guess how I managed to scan four rings
in one shot, each a different color!

Stone Fun Facts
They're back! I've spent some time researching new
stones, so not only do I have something new for this issue, I've got the next
few issues covered as well!
Peruvian Opal
** Please see general information about Opals
HERE. ** Peruvian Opals, also called Blue Andean
Opals, are a type of Opal that occurs primarily in the Andes. Consisting
of water trapped among Quartz spheres, they are considered "true" Opals.
Because the internal crystalline structure is random, Peruvian Opals display
none of the color play that most other Opals display. Peruvian Opals
typically are comprised of 3% to 14% pure water, though some specimens have been
found containing up to 20% water. ** Peruvian Opals were valued by the
ancient Incas, but they are somewhat rare today, and are rapidly rising in
price. ** Peruvian Opals are the color of the Caribbean Sea. They can
be translucent or opaque, and can be a pure blue, or feathered with black
impurities. ** Crystal healers use Peruvian Opals in stress reduction, to
reduce fatigue, to aid in weight loss, to reduce dizziness and insomnia, and to
aid in metabolism balance issues. ** Known as the Stone of Courage and
Ingenuity, Peruvian Opal helps to improve self-esteem. It aids in
creativity, and helps the wearer to find ways of communicating and speaking out
on touchy issues with grace. It helps the wearer to find a
confidante. ** Being a "wet" stone, Peruvian Opal needs to be protected from
heat, sunlight, and chemicals.

Our Regularly Scheduled Guest Book
Madness
Have you seen our Guest
Book lately? Probably not, due to all of the INCESSANT SPAM
on it. New spammers have discovered the Guest Book page and are taking it
to new heights. As of this minute all of the spam posts are deleted, but
watch for the Incredible Full-Page Spam Message to reappear any day now. I
am thisclose to removing the Guest Book altogether because the
sparse number of guests we get signing it is completely outnumbered by the
spammers wanting to sell my bead customers all manner of "men's pills" and
whatnot.
