Rough Amber Back in Stock
People love our rough Amber nuggets. I've had a couple
of people report finding insects in some of the nuggets, but most do not have
insects. We've gotten more nuggets back in stock and have re-tooled the
listing. Instead of offering one nugget for a dollar, we are now offering
ten small nuggets for a dollar. This is a great way to get some raw Amber
for polishing, and with ten nuggets you are more likely to find a bug than with
only one nugget.,
Amber Value Packs
Want to REALLY go bug-searching? Buy one of our Amber
Value Packs with 50 or 100 nuggets!
Egg Rings
I've had these listed in the "Coming Soon" section
forever. They took a long time to sort, scan, and list, but now they are
all up, just in time for Easter. Show off one of these cool rings with
egg-shaped stones. Just three bucks a pop, and a dozen different stones to
choose from!
Micro Stone Eggs Back in Stock
Stock up soon--these go really fast and we always have a heck
of a time getting more. We have lots of micro eggs (just a half-inch tall)
in stock now, but they won't last.

Stone Fun Facts
Chrysocolla
** Chrysocolla is a copper-rich mineral that is
closely related to Turquoise, and is sometimes confused with Turquoise. It
can be found wherever copper deposits are located, which includes the
southwestern Untied States. It occurs in crusts, masses, and tiny
needle-like crystals.
** The high copper content gives Chrysocolla a
brilliant green-blue hue. As it is a hydrous stone (called a "wet"
stone), it dries out easily and is prone to becoming brittle and breaking.
It's a very soft stone (2-4 on Moh's scale of hardness), and needs to be
protected when used in jewelry. Sometimes the stone itself can change with
changes in humidity. Its color can become slightly different, and its
opacity can change when the amount of water in the stone
varies.
** Crystal healers use Chrysocolla to aid
physical strength and endurance, and to ease allergies. It is used in
applications of the bone, and to heal arthritis, ulcers, and digestive
problems. ** Chrysocolla is thought to help relieve stress and grief, to
build up broken relationships, to heal broken hearts and expel guilt. It
is thought to help the wearer gain wisdom in speech--to know what to say, when
to say it, and when to stay quiet. ** The name "Chrysocolla" comes from the
Greek chrysos, which means "gold," and kolla, which means
"glue." Ancient Greeks used certain stones as solders for metals
(including gold), and copper-rich minerals were among these. While once
all greenish-blue minerals were thought of as "gold glue," the name eventually
came to stand for this one particular stone. ** In the 1950s, Chrysocolla was
voted by lapidarists (gem cutters) as the Most Popular Gem. ** The ancient
Egyptians called Chrysocolla the "Wise Stone." Cleopatra was thought to
have carried it with her at all times.

Random Customer Service
Frustrations
What do you do when your best efforts at customer
service go ignored, and you are branded as a poor seller?
Recently, I got a message from someone who was
unhappy with several of the items she ordered. Plus, she said she had been
overcharged $2 for shipping, and wasn't satisfied with the $2 off coupon that
she thought was meant to be compensation for the shipping overage.
I wrote back, telling her that she could send the
items back for a full refund including shipping. I also said that the
coupon was simply a courtesy that we include with each package, and that it
didn't have anything to do with shipping. (I didn't mention that she had
paid $5.20 total shipping & handling for a package that took $4.05 to
mail--nowhere near a $2 overage!) I got no response, and I wrote her off
as one of those occasional people who complain but don't want anything done
about it.
Somewhat later, I wrote a large message telling
all recent customers that a certain coupon code was wrong, and giving them the
correct code. I heard back from this woman. She said that not only
was she still unhappy with the items (and her alleged $2 shipping overcharge),
but she was very angry that I had not responded to her complaint.
Well, I wrote back again, telling her
that I had responded, but that she must not have gotten that message. I
wrote it again from my home account, just to make sure. Again, I did not
hear back from her.
So now I have someone mad because she
thinks I don't take care of problems. It's a frustrating feeling, knowing
that I am trying to make it better, but that either she honestly is not getting
my messages (though she DID get the one about the coupon code change), or
perhaps she simply wants to complain. What do you do with people like
this?
I usually try to end these rants with
something positive, so here it is. As always, I try my best to give the
type of customer service I would like to get. When you have a problem, I
really do try to make it better. As a seller, I have to understand that I
can do everything I can and if it's not enough for someone, then I can only use
it as an opportunity to appreciate the better customers even more.
