eBay Fee Hikes and the Fate of Our Store
13 Jan 2005

If you are an eBay store seller, chances are you have by now heard of their upcoming fee hike. While it used to cost $10 a month for an eBay store, with final value fees of 5.25%, this February they are going to raise it to $16 per month for the basic store, with final value fees of 8%. This will add $200-400 a year in fees for us, over and above the fees we are currently paying. We cannot afford this increase, so we are 99% certain we will be closing our eBay store in February.

We will continue to operate on eBay, and will try some "choice" Dutch auctions, offering 100 (or so) different stone types in every Chip Beads auction, for buyers to choose after they win. (And similar auctions for pendants and other items.) Each auction and each sale will be aggressively designed to direct traffic to our online store.

We will have updates on this as the time draws nearer.
