AOL Help Needed
30 May 2005

This is an old complaint for me, but I figured I'd mention it again just in case someone has found a solution. A while back, AOL made some changes to its e-mail system, and now I cannot send e-mail to most AOL addresses. I have tried everything I can think of. I have written from the account from which this newsletter is sent (a charter.net address), from my business address (ephemerala.citymax.com), and even from a yahoo account. Each time, the messages come back with the notice that they could not be delivered.

I got some advice to not make the message sound like spam, for fear it is falling into the spam filter, but this isn't the problem because the messages aren't getting to their destination AT ALL. They come right back with the error message.

This is enough of a bummer just knowing that my dozens of AOL subscribers no longer get this newsletter (wonder if anyone misses me?). But it becomes even more of a problem when I get inquiries from AOL people, and cannot reply to them! There have been at least a dozen times in the last five months where someone has asked me a question, indicating that they may wish to purchase something from my store pending further clarification, and there's NO way I can reply to them because my messages keep being returned as undeliverable. In every single case, the person never comes back to buy anything, likely thinking that the business owner couldn't be bothered to answer simple questions.

If there is anyone reading this who has discovered some solution to this problem, PLEASE let me know. I really do care about my customers (and the potential ones), and I don't want anyone thinking that they are not getting a reply. Any tips or tricks or workabouts that you have found successful, please let me know. Thanks to everyone.

Suzanne
