Hurricane Peach Days a Success
Hurricane Peach Days a Success
10 Sep 2006

For the last month I've been meaning to tell everyone about our upcoming festival, but now that "upcoming" festival is a week in the past. Last year's Peach Days festival was such a success that we decided to do it again this year, with twice the booth space and a nursing baby to deal with. Fun. Hurricane Peach Days was originally a festival to celebrate the fruit harvest. (We are currently up to our ears in cherries, apricots, and peaches, and aren't near done yet!) A few years ago the town renewed the old festival. It has a homey, comfortable feel to it, unlike some more hectic fairs, and apparently there are a lot of people around here who like gemmy stuff, because we did a booming business. This year's festival was extra-special due to it being the centennial of the city of Hurricane, so we expected as much luck this year as we had last year. We ended up nearly doubling our sales from last year--a great success. The baby was happy most of the time (try being five months old and having to sit around a booth for 12 hours at a time!), and our 9-year-old son Rio helped out a lot. My mom of Designs by Xan (website coming soon) was there as well to sell her beaded necklaces and earrings.
