For the young or young-at-heart, or for those who remember "The Good Old Days" when marbles were made of genuine stones, here is a fabulous gemstone marble made of Volcanic Rock. These were found locally in Southern Utah. Around here, we have a lot of dormant volcanoes. Long, long ago, when any of these volcanoes erupted, drops of liquid lava were spewed into the air. On their way down, they form a roughly sperical shape, and cooled before hitting the ground. The result is these cool rough marbles. These look very nice on display, perhaps in a potted plant, or a decorative bowl. But their main purpose, of course, is for playing! Gemstone marbles are stronger and sturdier than the cheap glass kind. They make playing the game a truly wonderful experience. Buy several for yourself, or give a child a taste of when "Playing For Keeps" really meant something! This marble is approximately 20mm across.
[Please allow for natural variations in the stones.]
